A Lion Is in the Streets

A cunning entrepreneur from the Louisiana bayous turns his attention to politics, raising suspicions about his true intentions and the impact he may have on the local community.

In the bayou, a charming peddler named Hank Martin wins over the hearts of the rural poor, including his new wife Verity, a teacher. However, Verity soon discovers that Hank's popularity stems from his cunning manipulation of those around him. As she struggles to come to terms with this revelation, she meets Flamingo, a sultry swamp dweller who claims Hank as her own and is fiercely protective of him. Meanwhile, Hank becomes embroiled in a crusade against a corrupt cotton buyer and begins to rise to political power. But is anyone able to stop him?
