A fisherman marries a woman named Basanti, but their happiness is short-lived as she is kidnapped and left with amnesia. Despite not recognizing her husband, Basanti remembers the name of his village and ten years later, she sets out to find him with their young son, who worships her as a goddess. However, their journey is complicated by the harsh reality of their village, where some residents refuse to share food due to the constant threat of starvation.
