The biographical movie follows the rise and fall of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, who takes power through military force and brutal suppression of opposition. He expels Asians from the country, kills hostages, and becomes increasingly erratic and violent, engaging in practices like voodoo, cannibalism, and rape. Despite his erratic behavior, Amin changes allegiances and courts various international powers, including the British, Israelis, and Soviets. He also takes to Islam and eventually flees to Saudi Arabia after a failed assassination attempt and a disastrous invasion of Tanzania.
