In a small town, Rosa Moline feels unfulfilled and becomes infatuated with Chicago industrialist Neil Latimer, who owns a hunting lodge nearby. To satisfy her desire for adventure, she begins to pressure her husband's patients to pay their medical bills, which puts a strain on her marriage. Eventually, her husband tells her to leave and never return. In Chicago, Neil rejects her advances, but later changes his mind and returns to claim her when she's pregnant. However, the caretaker at his lodge threatens to expose her secret, adding tension to the situation.
