The Wonder Circus, a traveling circus in the early 1900s, is struggling due to its owner and operator, Anthony Wonder's, gambling addiction. His daughter, Kitty Wonder, performs as an aerialist and trick rider, but hates her father's addiction and the circus's deep financial debt. As performers leave or threaten to leave to join the Noble Circus, a new employee, Sam Rawlins, joins the Wonder Circus. Despite initial reservations, Kitty and Sam start to develop feelings for each other, but Sam is hiding a secret that could jeopardize his standing with the Wonders and the entire circus, including the life of their beloved elephant, Jumbo.
