Marketing executive Lauren Kim spends Christmas with her divorced father and stepmother, her mother having abandoned the family years ago. Her best friend Nate, a social worker, joins them, having temporarily taken a break from dating to focus on setting up a community center for foster kids. As Lauren works on a project, she's visited by the spirit of her first boyfriend, Tyler, who informs her that she'll be visited by the spirits of three past boyfriends over the next week.
