Cattle King background

Cattle King

A rancher in Wyoming battles encroaching Texas cattle, threatening his prosperous land and traditional lifestyle.

In the Wyoming Territory of 1883, Sam Brassfield runs the Teton cattle ranch with his foreman and housekeeper Ed and Ruth Winters, and his right-hand man Johnny Quatro. Sam's nephew and niece, Webb and June Carter, also live on the ranch. Sam is implementing a new, sustainable method of ranching by building fences to keep out other cattle, which angers his neighboring ranchers, particularly his former mentor Clay Mathews, a Texas cattle baron who wants the open range. Sam believes Clay is behind the cutting of his fences and is trying to oversupply the market with inferior cattle. As tensions escalate, Sam's relationships with his neighbors, including the Travers siblings, become strained.
