Marcel Proust's loyal attendant, Céleste Albaret, spent eight years by his side from 1914 until his death, entering his room only when summoned. She slept from 9 AM to 3 PM each day, allowing him to focus on writing during the night. While initially a servant, Céleste became Marcel's muse, sharing stories of her childhood to inspire his writing and assisting him in manipulating others to gather material.
