In this eerie film, a doctor is summoned to treat Count Karnstein's ailing daughter Laura, whose nurse suspects she's being possessed by the malevolent spirit of her ancestor, Carmilla. When a carriage accident forces a young woman to seek shelter at the castle, she becomes embroiled in the mysterious deaths surrounding Laura and the two form an unlikely friendship. However, as their bond deepens, Laura becomes convinced that the vengeful spirit of Carmilla is driving her to commit murder.
