In 1902, Australia is celebrating its first year of federation. Twelve-year-old Tom's family moves to a remote farm on the edge of the woods, but his father's dream of self-sufficiency crumbles, and his mental state deteriorates. When three ex-soldiers arrive at their cabin, Tom initially sees them as a blessing, but their presence turns menacing when one of them discovers gold. As the allure of gold spreads, the cabin becomes a site of psychological struggle, testing Tom's loyalty and sense of identity.
