Victoria Winters arrives in Collinsport and begins to experience strange and disturbing dreams. She meets David Collins, who is haunted by memories of his mother, and Willie Loomis, who opens Barnabas's coffin, reviving him. Barnabas attacks several people, including Carolyn, and presents himself at Collinwood, where Victoria is drawn to him. He shows her a portrait of Josette DuPres, which resembles her, and begins restoring the Old House. Meanwhile, David removes a dagger from the ground, and Dr. Julia Hoffman discovers that Carolyn's wounds match those of the corpse of Willie's girlfriend.
