Peter, a Harvard law student, seeks excitement by getting involved in the drug trade with his friend John, a theater director. He chooses the alias Lucifer and meets Susan, a free-spirited woman who is the opposite of his uptight girlfriend Annie. As they work together to transport a suitcase of marijuana, they hit it off and decide to spend the night together. However, their next gig goes awry, and Susan is caught by a dirty cop and a Cuban gangster. Peter and John concoct a plan to get the dope back and save Susan, which involves a highly valuable and dangerous shipment of red heroin.
