A bomb explodes at a law firm's office, killing 15 people and senior partner Anne Harrington. Postal inspector Beau Stoddard is tasked with tracing the attack, working alongside his ex-partner Jane Dreyer and rival FBI agent Robert Brickland. As U.S. Attorney Fred Goldenberg is also targeted, Beau becomes convinced that the plot goes far beyond a simple drug-related crime, and that a larger conspiracy is at play.
