Down the Stretch

A young jockey strives to redeem his family's tarnished legacy in the cutthroat world of horse racing, haunted by a past racing scandal.

Jockey Snapper Sinclair struggles to overcome his father's crooked reputation. After being sentenced to a year in reform school for stealing, he's taken in by Patricia Barrington, who's grateful for his father's help in making her family's stables successful. Snapper helps the trainer Tex Reardon and rides a fast but unruly horse named Faithful to victory in the Kentucky Derby. He goes on to have a successful career, but refuses to cooperate with gamblers and is suspended from racing in the US. He moves to London and continues to win, but is torn between his loyalty to his new maharajah employer and his gratitude to Patricia, who needs him to win a crucial race to save her finances.
