Dragnet 1966 background

Dragnet 1966

The 1967 film was initially intended as a pilot for the Dragnet TV series, introducing Sgt. Joe Friday and his partners, but it wasn't broadcast until 1969.

Detective Joe Friday is pulled back from vacation to team up with his partner, Officer Bill Gannon, to investigate the disappearance of three young women - two amateur models and a war widow. The only lead is a man named J. Johnson, who was seen with the missing women. As they search for Johnson, they gather conflicting descriptions of the suspect, which leads them to a dead body in a vacant lot. However, the deceased, a Frenchman named Charles LeBorg, is not Johnson, and the investigation continues.
