Cantinflas, a hapless firefighter, takes in his young goddaughter after her mother's death in the jungle. Following a series of misadventures fighting fires, he decides to trade in his helmet for a badge, opting for a safer career as a policeman. However, his new life is disrupted when a group of gangsters abduct the girl, seeking a financial windfall.
