Clay Fletcher, a former Confederate officer, returns to El Paso, Texas to reconnect with his former love, Susan Jeffers, when his father asks him to retrieve a signature from her father, Judge Jeffers. However, he finds the judge has become corrupt and under the influence of local powerbroker Bert Donner and Sheriff La Farge. As Clay tries to fix the town's issues, he is forced to abandon the law and adopt the violent tactics of a vigilante.
