Mollie is left reeling after the death of her boyfriend Jack on a Native American reservation, where she is subsequently asked to leave by his sister due to her non-tribal status. With her young son and few belongings, she is forced to relocate to a troubled neighborhood in northern California, where gang activity is rampant.
