The film explores the tumultuous life of Rikio Ishikawa, a rebellious yakuza, from 1946 to 1950. During this period, his violent outbursts lead to conflicts with his own clan, Kawada, and later with the clan of his protector, Kozaburo Imai. Sheltered by Chieko, a young Tokyo courtesan, Ishikawa is eventually banished to Osaka, where he develops a drug addiction. Despite his reckless behavior, he maintains a reputation for being indestructible.
