Tom Early, a former gunslinger, returns to his hometown in 1886, only to be rejected by his community. He finds his wife has passed away and his son is working alone. Tom befriends Jo, a young woman he saves from abuse, and invites her to work on his farm. However, their peaceful life is disrupted when cattle lord Grimsell arrives with his gang, intending to drive 20,000 head of cattle through the town without regard for the local people's rights. As tensions escalate, Tom must use his skills to protect his family and community from Grimsell's ruthless tactics.
