In 1979 Christchurch, New Zealand, a young man named Angus spends a fortnight with his father, who is feeling world-weary. During this time, Angus becomes fascinated with the local post-punk music scene. With the help of his friend Kirsten, Angus overcomes self-doubt, criticism, and a family tragedy to finally perform on stage for the first time.
