Alexandre Rockwell's second feature follows a disabled teenager and his adoptive sisters, who are deemed "not a normal family" by a bureaucrat and set out on a road trip to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Along the way, they pick up a fellow misfit who discovers the boy's hobby of taking Polaroid photos.
