Two ghosts, Sandra and Lance, are stuck in purgatory after leading terrible lives on Earth. A demon named Bartholomew tries to tempt them to join the dark side, but Lance becomes smitten with Daphne, a woman whose sister has gone missing. He concocts a plan to help her while getting himself and his friend out of purgatory and into heaven. However, things get complicated as they use the forces of evil to do good, telling lies and getting into a series of 1920s-inspired misadventures.
