On a seaside vacation with her friend Mary, a young factory worker named Jenny becomes infatuated with Alan, the son of her mill owner's family. When she agrees to spend a week with him, Jenny confides in her roommate to keep their secret affair hidden. However, their plan backfires when Mary dies in a tragic boating accident, exposing Jenny's absence from the scene.
