A homeless man, Susumu Nokoshi, is recruited by a medical student for a unusual surgical procedure, trepanation, which involves drilling a hole in the skull. The procedure allows Susumu to see people's subconscious minds as distorted appearances when he closes his right eye and uses his left eye.
