A Japanese industrialist's world is consumed by crippling anxiety over the threat of nuclear war, leading to the erosion of his relationships and a loss of personal identity.

An elderly foundry owner, Kiichi Nakajima, is consumed by the fear of nuclear annihilation, prompting his family to seek a court ruling declaring him incompetent. Despite his family's concerns, Nakajima is desperate to escape Japan with them, seeking refuge in South America.
