A woman, alone in a dimly lit asylum room, methodically sharpens pencils and writes in a notebook, frequently breaking the points. She places the broken tips outside her window, as a satanic figure lurks nearby. After completing her writing, she folds the page, seals it in an envelope, and sends it through a slot, possibly addressed to her husband with the words "Sweetheart, come".
