In a world where fairy law prohibits love between fairies and mortals, a fairy named Iolanthe defies the rules and falls in love with the Lord Chancellor. Banished for her transgression, Iolanthe gives birth to a son, Strephon, who inherits her magical heritage. As Strephon grows up, he falls deeply in love with Phyllis, a ward in chancery, but their union is forbidden by the Lord Chancellor. When the Fairy Queen intervenes, granting Iolanthe a pardon and promising to protect Strephon, chaos erupts, leading to a series of hilarious and unpredictable events.
