Jesus Christ Superstar

A group of young actors arrives at a desert set to recreate the last days of Jesus Christ as a rock opera, infusing the story with modern sensibilities. Jesus' followers idolize him, but one devoted disciple, Judas Iscariot, has reservations about Jesus' approach and his close relationship with Mary Magdalene, who comforts him. Meanwhile, local priests see Jesus as a threat to their power under Roman occupation and seek to eliminate him, despite his devoted followers protecting him.
