In ancient Kyoto, a mysterious white rainbow appears, causing chaos and fear among the people. Emperor Suzaku orders a renowned astronomer, Yasunori, to consult a secret book to calm the populace. Yasunori's wife is murdered by his disciple Doman, who seeks power, and the book is stolen. Yasuna, another disciple, sets out on a journey after retrieving the book and meets Kuzunoha, the younger sister of his deceased sweetheart Sakaki.
