A devout Calvinist widower, Fred, is living a dull life after evicting his son. His life takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Theo, a mentally impaired adult with the emotional maturity of a five-year-old. As Fred becomes a protective father figure, he begins to enjoy his new role and stands up to bullies and bigots.
