Dinkar Bhosale, a representative of thousands of Marathis, feels his identity has been lost in cosmopolitan Mumbai. He complains about the lack of respect Marathis receive and feels victimized, unaware that he himself is partly responsible for his situation. As frustration builds, Dinkar curses being born Marathi and believes his ancestors must have committed a heinous crime. This outburst reaches Pratapgad, arousing the spirit of Shivaji Maharaj, who is furious at Dinkar's shallow thinking. Shivaji Maharaj fires Dinkar, telling him to command respect, not demand it, and blames his thinking for the Marathis' sorry state. Dinkar realizes his mistake, but will Shivaji Maharaj's words inspire him to correct his errors and revive Marathi pride?
