In a New York City hotel room, Jelke shoots gangster Joe Wells, takes a package, and flees. Wells stumbles into an alley, while reporter Sue Gallagher discovers his body and hides it among wax figures at a museum, calling her paper to send a photographer. The museum owner, Henry Miggs, finds the body, but his handyman, Clutch Tracy, advises him to conceal it to avoid suspicion, leading to a game of hide-and-seek with the stolen South American diamonds Wells was carrying.
