J. B. Bernstein, a struggling sports agent, finds inspiration in reality shows and Indian cricket games on TV. He decides to search for talented cricket players in India and train them to become pro baseball players in America. After finding two youths, Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, Bernstein takes them to Los Angeles, where they face a daunting challenge in mastering a new sport in a foreign land.
