Mississippi Hare background

Mississippi Hare

A group of misinformed cotton pickers mistake Bugs' tail for a cotton ball, resulting in him being mistakenly transported on a cotton haul. Meanwhile, Bugs cleverly outmaneuvers the cunning Colonel Shuffle in a thrilling game of wits on a riverboat.

In the next movie, Bugs Bunny accidentally boards a riverboat and outwits a gambler named Colonel Shuffle in a game of poker, winning all his money. The Colonel challenges Bugs to a duel, but Bugs thwarts the attempt and instead treats him to a cigar, which leads to a humorous explosion and blackface. Bugs then sends the Colonel into the river twice, first by pretending to perform Uncle Tom's Cabinet and then by sending him up the ship's smokestack. Finally, Bugs dresses up as a Southern lady and enlists the help of another gentleman to get rid of the Colonel once and for all.
