Despite his humble circumstances, his perfect singing voice brought him to the Holy See of Echmiadzin, where he studied music at colleges in Tiflis, Constantinople, Berlin, and Paris. Renowned musicians of the day, including Vincent d'Indy, Gabriel Faure', and Camille Saint-Saens, were entranced by Komitas's music.
