Set against the backdrop of Korea's colonization by Japan, the film tells the story of two men, Jun Shik and Tatsuo, who share a dream of competing in the Tokyo Olympics as marathon runners. As war breaks out, they find themselves on opposite sides of the battlefield, with Tatsuo becoming the head of defense in Jun Shik's unit. After being captured by the Soviets and then the Germans, the two men are forced to part ways, only to reunite at the shores of Normandy in 1944.
