Hazel Flagg, a woman from Vermont, is misdiagnosed with terminal radium poisoning, leading to mixed emotions. She's relieved to not be dying, but her plans to travel to New York in style are ruined. Then, a New York reporter named Wally Cook arrives, eager to tell her story and revive his own career. He offers to take Hazel to New York, where she becomes an overnight sensation. As they spend time together, Hazel and Wally fall in love, but Hazel must navigate her newfound fame and the expectations surrounding her "imminent" death.
