Estrella, a bright and diligent teenager, is an outcast at school, spending most of her time alone reading horror books and watching horror movies. Her mother, Angela, a nurse, has an unresolved trauma and engages in unconventional sexual encounters. When a detective reveals that the man who raped Angela is still alive, Angela's world is turned upside down. As she struggles to cope with her past, she becomes increasingly haunted by her own demons.
