A mental patient, Vincent, escapes from a hospital in Vermont after killing several staff members. Meanwhile, a couple, Scott and Terry, embark on a mission to find money that Scott's brother stole years ago, as a rising dam will soon cover the hiding spot. The search is complicated by the fact that Scott's brother is a detective investigating Vincent's escape, and the two storylines converge when Vincent takes Terry hostage as Scott faces drowning from the rising waters.
