Joaquin Shannon returns home from a fishing cruise, where he's forced to confront a complicated web of relationships and deceit. His sister is set to marry his first mate, Charles Nelson, but things take a dark turn when Nelson gets drunk and finds the unconscious body of a man Shannon had been fighting with earlier. As the man dies, Shannon takes the blame and is sent to prison, where he's targeted by the ruthless "Big Red" Kincaid. Despite being denied parole, Shannon's heroics in stopping a prison break earn him a second chance, but his troubles only intensify when Kincaid, who's escaped and seeking revenge, shows up on the fishing boat where Shannon has taken a job.
