On a dry and dusty rubber plantation in Indochina, a group of characters arrive, including a seductive woman named Vantine, who is hiding from the police. Despite initial resistance, the plantation owner, Dennis Carson, becomes entangled with Vantine, but their relationship is soon complicated by the arrival of a surveyor, Gary Willis, and his wife, Barbara. As the rains finally come, passions and desires are unleashed among the group.
