A feisty barmaid trades in her pint glass for a detective's magnifying glass, working tirelessly to clear her lover's name after he's accused of murder, with the aid of a brave priest who brings his faith and combat skills to the investigation.

Johnny Barnes, a longshoreman, is accused of murdering Cassidy, a corrupt politician, after beating him up for harassing his loved one Kitty Tracy. Despite the evidence against him, Kitty, her father, and a priest believe Johnny is innocent and work to uncover the truth. They discover that the real killer is an Alcatraz escapee named Monte March, and in a thrilling climax, Kitty and the priest confront him and his wife, leading to a dramatic showdown.
