A Mexican English teacher, Pablo Fernandez, leaves his homeland with his young daughter Christina to escape the trauma of his wife's death in a hurricane. He takes on a new life as an illegal tomato picker in California, but a tragic accident leads to a series of events that threaten his freedom.
