Air Force pilots Rick Williams and Mike Nolan try to meet film star Nell Wayne, who shares a hometown with Rick. Fellow stars Doris Day and Ruth Roman mistakenly think Rick is close to Nell and arrange a meeting. As they form a connection, Nell and her friends organize a performance for G.I.s in transit to and from the Korean War at Travis Air Base. However, Nell believes Rick is shipping out to war, while he's actually ferrying troops and returning with soldiers.
