Nikki Martin, a Parisian opera star, abandons her arranged marriage at the altar and embarks on a journey of adventure and love. She meets American musician Windy McLean and his band, the McLean Wildcats, while hitchhiking. Despite Windy's initial dislike, Nikki falls for him and stows away on their ship to New York. After being caught, Nikki joins the band as their singer, causing tension and jealousy among the members.
