Adriana Roman, a renowned stage actress, is retiring to marry Charles Winthrop, but his daughter Lisa is resistant to the union. Lisa tries to get to know Adriana, and they slowly form a bond. Meanwhile, Lisa becomes involved with Johnny Allen, a womanizing medical student who uses acid to manipulate her.
