Desmond Doss, a US Army medic, made history as the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor for his bravery and selflessness during the war.

In 1945, during World War II, a fierce battle took place on Okinawa's 400-foot high Hacksaw Ridge, where the odds of survival were 1 in 10. Medic Pfc. Desmond T. Doss bravely risked his life to rescue 75 wounded GI's, earning the respect of his fellow soldiers and the Medal of Honor.
