The Feast of All Saints background

The Feast of All Saints

In 19th-century New Orleans, the Free People of Colour, a diverse and fragile community, navigated the blurred boundaries between the advantages of white society and the brutal consequences of racial prejudice.

In the plantation-rich South, Magloire Dazincourt, owner of the largest sugar plantation, Bontemps, asks his cousin Philippe Ferronaire to marry his daughter Aglae and manage the plantation, including his mistress Cecile and her son Marcel. After Magloire's death, Philippe becomes Cecile's lover and promises Marcel's education in Paris at 18.
