In the quaint village of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane, a schoolteacher from New York City, arrives to a warm welcome. However, Crane is quickly drawn into the village's eerie legend of a headless horseman, said to be seeking the head he lost in battle. As he pursues Katrina Van Tassel, the beautiful young heiress, he incurs the wrath of Abraham Van Brunt, her suitor. Crane's unorthodox teaching methods also earn him the disdain of the villagers, leading many to wish for his departure.
